15:24: Still not underway at the rugby league against Oxford. Oxford warming up on the field as I speak. The rain has stopped but for how long?
15:33: Captains called to the middle, we’re nearly ready to start
15:37: And we’re off…
15:45: Birmingham are forced to soak up a lot of goal line pressure and escape with q good clearence kick before a huge hit on the Oxford full back. Birmingham now have head and feed on the halfway line
15:48: The Birmingham hard hits are flying in!
15:51: Birmingham prop charges through for the first try after strong running from the left wing. Conversion succesful. Brim lead 7-0
15:55: You can tell I’m a southener, the score is 6-0 of course!
16:18: It’s half time, and the score is still 6-0 to Birmingham. The games lost its earl physicality se what but the looms have shown moments of superb skill. Oxford had much of the late territory and may regret coming away with nothing to show for it due to some poor handling errors
16:23: A great bursting run from the Bham left wing then a superb offload to the centre means Birmingham now lead 12-0. Great rugby!
16:38: Not much to report other than a Birmingham player taking a knock to a sensitive area only to be tended to by 2 lovely female physios. A direct quote from the coach, “he must think he’s dreaming!”
16:47: Petering out as a spectacle I’m afraid. Neither side really able to put a full possesion together
16:50: Powerful run from the oxford lock and oxford have their first points.
16:52: And the Conversion is good 12-6 to Birmingham. Maybe a little late drama to come?
16:58: Put it on the board. Birmingham take the win all be it a scrappy one. Oxford never really threatened after their try. A hang your head in shame moment for the Birmingham wing who burst over the line, before spilling it forward!
