13:52: Reporting Live from the Munrow Track: University of Birmingham Men’s 1st Team Football v University of Stirling Men’s 1st Team Football – follow this blog for live text updates from Burn FM Sport

13:52: Welcome to the first ever live blog from a University of Birmingham sports fixture. Today we have the men’s 1st X1 up against newly-promoted Stirling – if you don’t want to miss a kick, stay tuned for live updates of the action, kick-by-kick, brought to you by Burn FM Sport

14:00:The teams are warmed up – time for an inspirational team talk before Kick-Off, which should be at 2pm

14:00: quite a gusty wind here on Campus, but glorious sunshine

14:01: the Bham team form a huddle for last-minute motivation

14:02: not quite sure who won the toss but we are changing ends and Bham will kick off

14:03: and were off…

14:04: stirling are wearing all green and kicking towards the vale end. Bham are in their traditional red, blue and gold

14:06: stirling force an early corner but it is well claimed by the bham keeper

14:11: ‎1st effort on goal – a swerving long-ranger from Striling which flies slightly high and wide of the top corner

14:14:unfortunately we don’t have a team-sheet or squad list here, so please forgive me for simply referring to the numbers of the back of players’ shirts! The bham no. 9, who looks quite a lot like Emmanuel Adebayor, has shown good strength in the air in the early stages

14:19: bham are putting a bit of pressure on…

14:21: not many chances so far. it’s been a tight game. Stirling’s pacey left winger, their no. 11, has caused the home side a few problems but Bham are defending well

14:23: slightly unusually, the referee has overuled his linesman 3 times in the match already

14:23: GOAL

14:24: Bham 0 – 1 Stirling

14:24: the visitors take the lead. good run from the striling no. 11, who beat 3 bham players before rolling the ball to the no. 10 who slotted home with a neat finish past the bham keeper into the bottom corner

14:26: bham respond straight away, forcing a corner at the other end, but the header goes over the bar

14:34: hopefully conceding that goal will spark Bham into life – the first 25 minutes were a bit flat from the home team

14:36: chance for Stirling from a free-kick. the ball was launched into the area from the right-hand-side and the Stirling CB rose the highest to nod towards goal but the keeper made the save and Bham clear

14:39: stirling go close again after their no. 7 bursts into the penalty box and dribbles round the keeper, but he took the ball just a fraction too far and could only hit the side-netting

14:40: Bham’s stand-out player so far is without doubt their no. 8, who is playing in CM. He looks very comfortable on the ball and has found a red shirt with all of his passes so far. There’s a touch of Barry Ferguson about him (there’s my 1st Birmingham City reference of the afternoon)

14:41: and he’s just hit the post! perfect timing after my last comment. Bham were really unlucky there!

14:42: what a shame that one didn’t go in for the home side – just a few inches away from getting the equaliser. the no.8′s curling effort had definitely beaten the keeper. hard luck

14:44: Stirling have the ball in the net at the other end but the whistle had already blown for a clear offside

14:46: great save by the bham keeper to keep out a decent long-rage shot from Stirling which was rising towards the roof of the net. good football all round

14:48: approaching half time now and bham are definitely back in it but still trail 1-0

14:48: brave block there by Bham’s no.5 to keep out the visitors’ CF

14:50: an ambitious half volley from Bham’s no.4 flies over the bar, as we head into 1st half injury time

14:51: HT Bham 0 – 1 Stirling

14:54: So, at the interval, Stirling have the lead thanks to that 23rd minute goal by their no. 10. Bham aren’t playing badly though and, with a little bit more luck, they could have drawn level, having hit the post 10 minutes before the break. Here’s to a better 2nd half for the home team!

14:57: we’re back under way here – 45 minutes to go

15:00: please forgive me if I am making any spelling mistakes – unfortunately the sun is shining directly at my screen so it’s quite hard to see

15:01: Bham look a little livelier at the start of the 2nd half. no real chances to report yet though

15:10: Stirling are trying to play the long-ball up to their big no. 9 but the 2 Bham CBs are defending well. not much goal-mouth action so far in the 2nd half

15:13: a chance for bham now with a free-kick right on the edge of the area…

15:14: but that’s over the bar – a decent effort, but it was always going to be difficult to get the ball up, over the wall, and down again from so close to goal

15:17: GOAL

15:17: Bham 0 – 2 Stirling

15:18: sorry – I was distracted there by one of our cousins from Redbrick. Goal description on the way…

15:21: disaster for Bham as Stirling double their lead against the run of play. It was a well-placed shot from 10 yards out which trickled past the Bham keeper and into the bottom left-hand corner of the net. Good build-up play before the goal as well. 2-0 to the visitors now

15:23: what a hammer blow for Bham, completely against the run of play. Unfortunately, the home side simply haven’t created enough clear-cut chances to score

15:27: GOOOOAAALAZIO

15:34: Bham 1 – 2 Stirling

15:34: The comeback is on!

15:34: GOOOALAZIO!

15:36: ‎2-2! 2 in 2 minutes for the reds!

15:36: it’s all happening here – Stirling almost made it 3-2 immediately but the shot is well saved by Bham’s keeper

15:36: Bham’s LB, no.3 Declan Cassidy, almost scores to complete the dramatic turn-around but his glancing header drops just wide of the post

15:36: Stirling could be in here….. great save by the keeper! brave stop at the feet of the attacker. Bham’s players are appealiling for handball It looked pretty blatant to me but the ref hadn’t given it so the keeper’s stop was vital

15:37: how unlucky can you get?! Bham have hit just hit the woodwork tiwce, firstly tipped onto the bar by the Stirling keeper and then, following up with the re-bound for an almost completely open goal, Bham’s left winger hits the post! so close to a late winner there…

15:39: unbelievable drama here at the University of Birmingham – 1 minute left for one team to find a winning goal

15:42: FT 2-2

15:44: There goes the final whistle – what a dramatic end to the game!

15:44: The action was non-stop there for a good 10-15 minutes, so I’ve hardly had a chance to even describe Bham’s goals. Needless to say, there were both brilliant! Well done to the team for that spirited fight-back
